Virginia Nurse Practitioner Job Details

  • Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320 (serving surrounding counties)
  • Employment Type: Locum Tenens / PRN healthcare position
  • Schedule: 5 shifts per week, part-time (minimum 4 full days/month required; weekdays preferred, weekends a bonus)
  • Shift Duration: 8-hour field days (including travel)
  • Start Date: December 8, 2025
  • Pay Range: $480 - $533 per week (per-assessment payment model; $60/day travel stipend)
  • Travel: Daily travel to member homes (up to 120 miles/day depending on territory)

Nurse Practitioner Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Virginia (ANCC, AANP, or AACN Board Certification)
  • Minimum 1 year of Nurse Practitioner experience in clinical or home health settings (highly independent; new grads not accepted)
  • Accepted NP certifications: AGNP (Adult Geriatric Primary Care), FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner), ENP (Emergency Nurse Practitioner), ACNP (Acute Care Nurse Practitioner)
  • Physician Assistants accepted in Virginia with 1 year of PA experience (Board Certified)
  • Comfortable traveling independently to member homes, including underserved and rural areas
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to manage schedule changes, no-shows, and logistical unpredictability
  • Strong commitment to patient care and excellent communication skills
  • Must provide own patient bag with basic medical tools; business professional or dark-colored scrubs required

Healthcare Responsibilities

  • Conduct annual health risk assessments in member homes (1:1 visits; no follow-up required)
  • Perform physical exams, medication reviews, and evaluate social/environmental factors
  • Complete basic labs (e.g., A1C, fit tests; no blood draws)
  • Document and submit assessments via provided tablet (same-day submission required)
  • Travel efficiently within a 60-mile radius, adapting to rural, urban, and suburban routes
  • Maintain high quality scores and adhere to all compliance and safety protocols
  • Communicate with the clinical services team and participate in ongoing quality reviews
